Gordon and I were married on 16th October 1976 in Harper Memorial Baptist Church by Rev Peter Donald.
We met at Glasow University in the Hons Statistics class. We barely talked to each other until the final year dinner after our final exams. (We are both on the left in the photo)
Gordon took photographs at the dinner and arranged to meet me at the QM under the pretext of giving me copies. I was surprised to find that no-one else in the class was there! We got talking and he was astounded to discover that someone with apparent intelligence could possibly believe in God. Therefore we had to meet again to continue the conversation. Obviously we both had different motivations for meeting again, but that was just the beginning.
Over the next few months we became closer and his arguing about the Bible turned to questioning, then investigating, and finally his conversion one night in his flat in Partick. You can read his testimony here.
My brother James gave me away and my sister Ann was my bridesmaid. We didn’t have much money so we made our own dresses! My mother made the cake.
We spent our honeymoon in Majorca and returned to begin our married life in a tenement flat in Queens Drive overlooking Queens Park bowling green.
